How much time does creating a YouTube video usually take for you?
It depends on the kind of video. A podcast episode takes about a couple of hours to edit, plus a few more to render/upload. It actually takes longer to render than to edit the podcast itself. For a short talk video, it would take about an hour at most.
What do you like to do in your spare time outside of creating YouTube videos?
Outside of creating YouTube videos, I do livestreams on Mixer, specifically retro/indie games. I also do a bit of voice acting and other collabs on the side. Outside of creating in general, I work and go to college.
What motivates you to keep creating content? Do you have a schedule for publishing and would you recommend one?
The creative juices that I have in me is what motivates me to keep creating content. I have a list of topics I keep that I would like to discuss with my audience and podcast guests, one video at a time. The purpose of my channel is to share a variety of perspectives on various topics, and encouraging others to have an open mind is a great feeling to have.
What is the biggest difference, in your opinion, between a successful YouTuber and an average YouTuber?
A successful YouTuber would be one who makes a living off of creating content, and has a big enough audience to keep the momentum going. An average YouTuber would be one who creates content as a hobby and does not make a cent making said content. I am the latter, without a doubt haha.
Which video was your favorite to create and why?
My favorite video was the "Moral Attempts Voice Acting!" video that I did for 100 subscribers back in July 2017. Despite the quality of the video, it was one of the most fun ones I have ever done. Not only because I reached my very first milestone, but because it gave me an opportunity to try something new. I got plenty of positive feedback on the video, and I appreciate that a lot.
What advice would you give to other YouTubers looking to grow their channels?
Networking is very important for growth. I have seen some creators expecting people to watch their content, but doesn't make the time to do the same. Present yourself in a way that doesn't make you seem desperate for views/subs. Network by starting/joining conversations with other small creators through social media, watch and comment on videos with a similar niche as you, and provide feedback. The latter helps the most, because that's how small creators improve and grow.
What have you done that has seen the most success when growing it?
The moment I switched my channel's focus, I was able to better connect with my audience through short talks, and that's something I've always wanted to do on YouTube. Networking also helped me get guests to come on my podcast, the majority of them being other creators. I got to meet and chat with them, and it's wonderful to see how much potential they have to grow on YouTube.
What has been the biggest challenge so far in growing your channel?
The biggest challenge so far in growing my channel has been keeping viewers engaged on my content. I do a mixture of short talks and podcasts, and the video topics are those that I'm passionate about. Each viewer is different, so it's a challenge to figure out what each viewer likes/dislikes.
